Chisinau hosts meeting of national commission for working out reports on implementing international conventions

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur on 17 December chaired a meeting of the National Commission for working out initial and periodical reports on implementation of international conventions Moldova is party to, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's information and media communication service has reported.
In line with the Commission's mandate, its members considered reports and approved texts of four national reports on removing all forms of racial discrimination, on political and civil rights, children's rights and prohibition of torture and ill treatment.
The commission members took note of the presentation of periodical reports to the Council of Europe and Deputy Minister Andrei Galbur showed the calendar of unveiling the next periodical reports.
At the same time, the participants in the meeting discussed the cycle 2 of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Moldova, scheduled for November 2016. At the same time, the national report is to be based on the implementation of about 122 recommendations, formulated following the carrying out of the first cycle of review in 2011.
Also, the participants in the meeting adopted a decision on updating the composition of the National Commission, as well as the need to build institutional capacities, with a view to implementing and reporting on international conventions.
