Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/-Representatives of the Democratic Party (PDM) today will hold a meeting with the 14 MPs who left the faction of the Party of Communists (PCRM) to discuss the creation of a Social Democratic Parliamentary Platform, representing the center of a new pro-European parliamentary majority.

The announcement was made by Democrat leader Marian Lupu during a news conference today.

“I would like to ascertain that the gesture is welcomed, especially in the context of the political pressure Moldova has been facing over the last weeks. Now, we want to listen to what our colleagues have to say and try to create a platform that would become the main element of a parliamentary majority as soon as possible. I hope that both teams will succeed to set the goals of this cooperation in a very quick way today,” Lupu said.

Former PDM deputy leader, Vladimir Plahotniuc, will head the group of Democrat MPs during the talks with the 14 MPs today.

Before today’s negotiations of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Democratic Party (PDM), Liberal Party (PL) and the group of unaffiliated MPs headed by Iurie Leanca, Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu touched upon the 14 MPs who left the PCRM faction, noting that communists would always stay communists, regardless of their affiliation, and that his party would never make a coalition with them.

A group of 14 Communist MPs announced this morning that they were leaving the PCRM parliamentary faction. The MPs also added that they would form their own parliamentary platform named the Social Democratic Platform for Moldova.
