Moldovan Democrats say Sturza cabinet not to be backed in parliament

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate put forward by the Moldovan president for the office of prime minister, Ion Sturza, will not be backed in parliament, the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM),l Marian Lupu, said at a news conference today evening.
The PDM leader believes that the chances of the Sturza cabinet were null.
"This is a candidate without political support. This candidacy was discussed long time ago, out of public view. We believe that the chances of the Sturza government are zero," Lupu said.
The PDM leader also said the Democrats would not hold discussions with Ion Sturza.
"We will have no meeting with the nominated candidate. We will not take this candidacy into consideration. Nevertheless, we are confident that we will have a government sworn in office till 29 January," Marian Lupu said
A former premier of Moldova, Ion Sturza, is the candidate nominated by President Nicolae Timofti for the office of prime minister. The head of state took this decision today evening, following consultations with the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party, PDM, Liberal Party and unaffiliated MPs of the Leanca group.
The government of the Alliance for European Integration III (AIE III), led by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, was dismissed with the votes of PDM, Party of Communists and Party of Socialists MPs on 29 October 2015.
