Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved a regulation on financing the activity of political parties.
CEC head Iurie Ciocan said “the approval of this regulation went through all stages of public consultations, and during six months, the political parties must put right all acts, in accordance with the concerned document."
Under the regulation, starting from 2016, the parties will semesterly present financial reports and other internal documents on management and their work to CEC.
At the same time, the political parties will yearly receive financing from the state budget through CEC, with the amount of allocations stipulated in the annual budget law. The percentage rate will be no more than 0.2 per cent of the revenues seen in the state budget for the concerned year. Thus, 50 per cent of this amount is distributed to the political parties proportionally to the performance achieved in parliamentary elections, and 50 per cent – to political parties proportionally to the results got in general local polls.
The decision will enter into force on 1 January 2018, is published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) and on the website of the Central Electoral Commission.
The regulation on financing the activity of political parties comes from the law on financing political parties, adopted by the parliament on 19 March 2015.
