Moldovan Liberals has yet to decide on whether to vote for premier-designate

Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Liberal Party (PL) is to decide on whether it will back or not the candidacy of prime minister-designate, Ion Sturza, within the formation. PL leader Mihai Ghimpu announced this decision following a meeting with Sturza today.
After the meeting, Mihai Ghimpu said the discussions between the Liberals and Ion Sturza had been focused on the present situation in Moldova.
"The prime minister-designate today set forth the things which we have learned publicly too. In particular, we discussed the political, economic and social situation in the country. We are to decide on whether to support or not the candidacy of prime minister-designate Ion Sturza within the formation already. It is regretful to create a government without a parliamentary majority," Ghimpu specified.
According to the prime minister-designate, the participants in the meeting also discussed the structure of the future cabinet.
"The meeting was quite politeful and I believe that this is a good sign. We ruled to further assess the situation, they will have internal discussions and we will continue the dialogue afterwards," Ion Sturza said.
After the head of state had nominated the candidacy of Ion Sturza for the office of prime minister on 21 December, on the next day, the prime minister-designate started consultations with all parliamentary factions.
On 22 December, Ion Sturza had a meeting with the MPs from the Liberal Democratic Party and today met representatives of the European People's Party of Moldova and Liberal Party. Also today, Ion Sturza said he had sent letters to all parliamentary factions, to hold consultations with the latter in a short time.
