Moldovan premier-designate unveils results of consultations with parties

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister-designate Ion Sturza presented the results of public consultations with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Liberal Party (PL) and European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM). The conclusions were made at a news conference today.

Sturza said the talks had been focused on diagnosing the situation in Moldova.

“We proposed the possible solutions to economic stability and not only. We talked about government’s formation. There are concerns that the reforms I will propose for implementation will not be supported by the parliamentary majority. It remains to be seen how we will solve the problems. Nevertheless, the response of other parties will be very important,” he noted.

Sturza said he would hold a string of official meetings, then he would compile the government action programme and list of cabinet members.

“I am to meet the other parliamentary formations. Today, I am going to meet Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu. Afterwards, I will talk to ambassadors accredited to Chisinau, rectors of higher education institutions, scientists, civil society, professional associations and mayors of Chisinau and Balti. Subsequently, I will visit the Gagauz Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit. After all these meetings, I will draw up the government action programme and the list of cabinet members,'' he added.

After the president had nominated the candidacy of Ion Sturza for the premier’s position on 21 December, on the next day, the prime minister-designate started consultations with all parliamentary factions.

On 22 December, Sturza met MPs of PLDM and representatives of PPEM and PL on 23 December. Ion Sturza informed that he had sent letters to all parliamentary factions, to hold consultatiuons with the latter in a short time.
