Leader of Moldovan Democrats says today's result in parliament predictable

Chisinau, 4 January /MOLDPRES/ - The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Marian Lupu, at a news briefing has said that the today's result in the parliament was predictable. No matter the situation, the team I lead would not have voted for a Sturza government, Lupu stressed.
According to Lupu, some PDM MPs were absent with his permission for private reasons. "I am not interested in the today's outcome, but in what will happen next. Till today evening, we will inform head of state Nicolae Timofti on the resumption of the process of formation of a parliamentary majority. We commit to have a process of negotiations till Monday, 11 January," Lupu said.
The leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu, specified that the PL faction had not intended to give a vote of confidence to a cabinet led by Ion Sturza.
After the parliament failed to hold the meeting today, within which the candidate nominated for the office of prime minister, Ion Sturza, was to unveil his team and the government's action programme, under the Constitution, President Nicolae Timofti must start consultations with the parliamentary factions, in order to nominate a new candidate.
