Moldovan rescuers unblock snow-trapped vehicles on national roads

Chisinau, 8 January /MOLDPRES/-Over the past 24 hours, the employees of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service unblocked nine vehicles, which had skidded off the route or got trapped into the snow on national roads.

The first case took place near Vatra settlement, Straseni district. A car with two adults and two minor children inside skidded off the road and ended up in a ditch. Rescuers intervened to pull the vehicle out of the ditch and unblock children from the car. The rescue operation was accomplished successfully and nobody in the vehicle was hurt.  

Rescuers were also involved in a rescue operation in Pitesti village, Ungheni district. They succeeded to tow an ambulance, so that it could continue its way to save a patient blocked in the snow.

The employees of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service towed other blocked vehicles on the roads of Causeni, Dubsari, Orhei, Straseni and Ungheni districts over the past 24 hours. Within this period of time the service participated in 48 rescue operations, mostly towing vehicles, offering Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication qualified first aid and extinguishing fire outbreaks.

Rescuers warn citizens of traffic taking place under winter conditions on national roads. They recommend that drivers start a road trip only if their vehicles are equipped with winter tires. Rescuers also recommend that people maintain their phones charged to be able to call the emergency if necessary.
