Moldovan ambassador presents credentials to Council of Europe Secretary General

Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador, Moldova's Resident Representative at the Council of Europe (CE) Corina Calugaru today presented the letters of accreditation to Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's (MAEIE) information and media communication service has reported.
In this context, the two officials exchanged opinions on Moldova's present relations with the Council of Europe, dynamic of the assistance projects, in particular, the action plan on backing the democratic reforms in Moldova for 2012-2016, as well as the present domestic situation.
The secretary general evoked the good relations between Moldova and the Council of Europe and the will to continue implementing the needed reforms and projects. At the same time, Corina Calugaru and Thorbjørn Jagland reviewed the impact of the legislative assistance, measures to consolidate trust between the two banks of Dniester and the justice reform. The CE official stressed that the reform of justice and prosecutor general's office, as well as the corruption problem represent the priority subjects on the Council of Europe's agenda, including from the annual report of the Secretary General, for which special attention would be further paid.
In the end of the meeting, the two officials agreed to maintain a constant dialogue and Moldova's orientation to development of a truthful democracy, felt by all citizens.
