Moldovan ambassador presents credentials to Lithuanian president

Chisinau, 14 January /MOLDPRES/ - Ambassador Valeriu Frija has recently presented Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite the letters of accreditation as Moldova's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Lithuania, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's (MAEIE) information and media communication service has reported.
At a meeting held after a protocol ceremony, the two officials exchanged opinions on the development of the Moldovan-Lithuanian friendship and cooperation relations, and expressed common interest in extending and deepening the ties. President Dalia Grybauskaite reiterated her country's firm political will to further back Moldova in its efforts to achieve the objectives set on the European agenda, in terms of promotion of the needed reforms and Moldova's modernisation.
The two officials also tackled aspects on regional security and the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, which must contribute to strengthening Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Lithuanian head of state reconfirmed her country's willingness to back Moldova in promoting its economic interests and strengthening energy security, including by reducing the energy independence and diversifying supply sources.
Ambassador Valeriu Frija thanked President Dalia Grybauskaite for the political support constantly provided to Moldova, as well as for the help given by Lithuania to implement assistance projects for development.
