Moldovan acting premier lays flowers at bust of great Romanian poet

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - Interim Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, accompanied by the acting cabinet members, today laid flowers at the bust of great poet Mihai Eminescu in the Stefan cel Mare public garden from Chisinau. Brega attended a literary recital dedicated to the poet, along with President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, as well as other officials, culture people, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

The event is occasioned by the marking of the 166th birthday anniversary of the writer, publicist and poet, as well as the National Culture Day, celebrated in Moldova the fourth year in a row.     

Also today, the acting prime minister conveyed a congratulatory message on the National Culture Day, in which he also referred to the importance of Mihai Eminescu's work. "The poet represents the supreme expression of the Romanian nation. On this day, we are thinking about the vast and inestimable work of Eminescu, which we have the obligation to preserve piously. We take from his works, always up-to-date, the essence of patriotism, love for the country, fight for truth and dignity - values that we need to continue to develop as a nation," the message says.
