Moldovan acting premier meets heads of districts hit by bad weather at videoconference

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega, along with acting Interior Minister Oleg Balan, acting Transports and Roads Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc and Deputy Health Minister Gheorghe Turcanu have discussed with the heads of the bad weather-hit districts the consequence of the heavy snowfall in the south and central Moldova at a videoconference, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
According to unveiled reports, the precipitation and strong wind created the biggest problems in southern regions, particularly in the Stefan Voda district, where several roads of access to more villages are still blocked. Some transport units were also blocked today morning. In the Taraclia district, the local authorities said they were facing difficulties when clearing roads of snow, stressing that they still needed technical equipment and fuel. At the same time, 12 settlement are disconnected from power supply in the Causeni district.
In these conditions, the leadership of the Stefan Voda, Taraclia and Causeni districts demanded additional assistance for removing the snow, as well as for connection to electricity supply.
The Transports and Roads Infrastructure Ministry and the Interior Ministry at the meeting informed that more special vehicles and road-men were mobilised, who work nonstop to remove the snow. These ministries gave assurances that they would further help the local authorities who ask for help.
The acting prime minister urged decision-makers to pay increased attention to cases in which help is needed for pregnant women and patients in need of emergency medical assistance.
At the same time, the acting prime minister asked to be informed on the evolution of the situation in the hit districts and measures undertaken by authorities to settle problems during the day.
