Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister-designate Pavel Filip today held consultations with representatives of the employers’ associations and the civil society, who asked him to sign an integrity declaration and head a dialogue group between the cabinet team and employers’ associations.

During his meeting with the members of the employers’ associations, Filip noted that his team counted on actions generating immediate results in the near future. “If we succeed in just a month, people and partners will start trusting us, and we will be able to continue the necessary reforms. If we fail, social pressure will grow. Previous governments failed to meet the citizens’ expectations and disappointed them,” Filip said.

The head of the National Confederation of Employers’ Associations, Leonid Cerescu requested the prime minister-designate to not allow an increase in the spending of the central and local administration, asking him to head a dialogue group between the cabinet and employers’ associations.

During the meeting with civil society representatives, Filip touched upon several allegations that have been raised against him lately, adding that he will sign an integrity declaration Moldovan NGOs have proposed, except that he does not want to make a show out of it. “Besides signing this declaration, it is important that one keeps his integrity during his entire activity in the government. I will require my colleagues to sign the declaration as well, though I do not want to make a show out of this,” Filip said.

At the end of the meeting, some of the NGOs' members said they did not want a political government and would opt for snap elections.

Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree on 15 January, appointing acting Information Technology and Communications Minister Pavel Filip as prime minister-designate.

According to a ruling of the Constitutional Court (CC), the parliament will be dissolved and snap elections shall be held, if the investiture of a new government fails to happen in Moldova by 29 January 2016.
