Moldovan premier-designate to ask for parliament’s confidence vote today at 16:00

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister-designate Pavel Filip will ask the Moldovan parliament for a vote of confidence during a special meeting today. The announcement was made by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu after today’s meeting of the parliament’s standing bureau.
According to Candu, the prime minister-designate has already presented the parliament his government action programme and cabinet list.
“Initially, we suggested that this meeting takes place tomorrow. However, the majority of the standing bureau’s members wanted the meeting to take place today at 16:00, once the prime minister-designate is ready to ask for the vote of confidence,” Candu said.
According to a ruling of the Constitutional Court, the parliament will be dissolved and snap elections shall be announced if the investiture of a new government fails to happen in Moldova by 29 January 2016.
