Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate for the office of prime minister, Pavel Filip, unveiled the government's action programme for 2016-2018 at a special parliament meeting today.
The cabinet led by Pavel Filip was voted by the members of the parliamentary majority, made of MPs of the Democratic Party (PDM), Liberal Party, former Communist lawmakers and a group of Liberal-Democratic MPs.
During the presentation of the government's action programme, Socialist MPs blocked the parliament's central rostrum, demanding the holding of snap parliamentary elections. Thus, Pavel Filip had to unveil the action programme from the government's cabin in parliament.
The meeting of the Filip government's swearing in office lasted less than 30 minutes. This happened, after the parliamentary majority had voted for omitting the the questions-answers round, at a proposal by PDM leader Marian Lupu.
In the presentation of the government's action programme, Pavel Filip said "the new cabinet of ministers sets the main goal to improve the well-being, security and living standards of the citizens, especially through: developing the economy and facilitating the creation of well-paid jobs, fighting corruption and guaranteeing the supremacy of law, ensuring personal security, strengthening the country's defence capacity, providing accessible and cost-efficient public services, ensuring social protection for the vulnerable groups of the residents."
The new government was backed by 57 MPs out of 68 ones present in the session hall.
At the same time, thousands of supporters of the Dignity and Truth Platform, Party of Socialists and Our Party protested against the swearing in office of the Filip government outside the parliament building.
