Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The court session on the file of a former prime minister, politician Vlad Filat, scheduled for today, has been postponed for the next week. The prosecutor instrumenting the case, Adriana Betisor, made statements to this effect today.
According Betisor, the session was adjourned for 26 January. "The reason for postponing was a request on behalf of the defenders, as well as the defendant, for which a new session was set. This was a request invoked by both lawyers on job reasons," Betisor said.
Vlad Filat was detained on 15 October 2015, under a warrant issued by the National Anticorruption Centre, after the parliament had ruled to strip him of immunity.
On 18 October, the Buiucani court of Chisinau issued a warrant of preventive arrest to the former prime minister for 30 days, and judges extended the MP's arrest by another 30 days on 11 November and 10 December. On 5 January, the Buiucani court ruled to prolong the former premier's warrant of arrest by another 90 days.
