Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/-During today’s meeting of its parliamentary faction, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) decided to exclude from the faction its seven MPs who voted for the investiture of the government headed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
The excluded MPs are as follows: George Mocanu, Mihaela Spataru, Vladimir Hotineanu, Stefan Creanga, Aliona Gonta, Nae-Simion Plesca and Ion Balan.
A press release issued by PLDM states that “MPs have been excluded from the faction because they violated the statutory provisions and ignored the decisions of the party’s leadership”. On the other hand, PLDM’s press release does not touch upon its MP Valeriu Ghiletci, who also backed Filip’s government.
Moreover, PLDM announced today that it disapproved of the obscure methods the government headed by Pavel Filip had been sworn. “We conclude that the investiture of the government had seriously infringed the constitutional norms and the strict regulations. The vote of the 57 MPs did not represent the will Moldovan citizens had voiced during the parliamentary elections of 30 November 2014, as party switching and political corruption were used to create the new parliamentary majority,” the press release reads.
PLDM notes that it supports citizens’ peaceful protests; however, it firmly speaks out against violence, provocations and devastation of public buildings.
“We believe there are enough peaceful and democratic methods to compel a government to serve its state and citizens. As a consequence, citizens have the indisputable right to ask for snap elections if their expectations are not met. We call for Moldova’s development partners to recondition their assistance based on the concrete efforts of the government to restore the rule-of-law state and genuine democracy, leaving aside their great promises and plans”.
The investiture of a new government headed by Democrat Pavel Filip with the vote of 57 MPs on 20 January, caused massive protests, marked by violent actions. Protests continue for the third day in a row.
