Moldovan official, foreign development partners discuss new government’s priorities

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur met a group of Moldova’s development partners, including ambassadors and heads of international organizations’ missions, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
During the meeting, Galbur thoroughly described the evolution of the social-political situation in Moldova, touching upon priority goals of Prime Minister Pavel Filip’s cabinet.
The deputy prime minister emphasized the new government’s firm decision to continue Moldova’s EU integration course, implement reforms provided in the association agreement with the EU and resume cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), EU member-states, USA and other strategic development partners, as soon as possible. The Moldovan official added that the new cabinet of ministers would take concrete actions to improve the social, political and economic situation in order to regain the confidence of citizens and foreign development partners.
Resuming the five-plus-two negotiations on the Transnistrian conflict’s settlement, curbing corruption, justice reform, strengthening the rule-of-law state and consolidation of democracy and social cohesion were among the new government’s priorities Galbur has touched upon.
For their part, the heads of diplomatic missions to Moldova shared their views on the current social-political situation, focusing on the responsibility of the new government to appropriately deal with ongoing protests and tension in the society. According to them, the government should immediately implement the institutional reform in order to ensure an independent justice system, curb corruption, and observe democratic values along with human fundamental freedoms and rights.
Foreign ambassadors emphasized that the new government would be especially praised if it takes concrete actions and succeeds to solve the problems of the Moldovan society.
