Moldovan president signs decree creating new composition of Supreme Security Council

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti has signed a decree on creating a new composition of  the Supreme Security Council (CSS), the presidential press service has reported. 

CSS President is Nicolae Timofti, President of Moldova and supreme commander of the Armed Forces. The Secretary of the Council is the presidential adviser on defence and national security, Alexei Barbaneagra.

CSS also includes: 

Armasu Octavian - Finance Minister; 

Balan Mihai, Director of the Security and Intelligence Service;

Calmic Octavian, Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister;

Candu Andrian, Parliament Speaker;

Chetraru Viorel, Director of the National Anticorruption Centre;   

Duca Gheorghe, President of the Academy of Sciences;

Filip Pavel, Prime Minister;  

Galbur Andrei, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister;

Ghimpu Mihai, head of the parliamentary faction of the Liberal Party; 

Gurin Corneliu, Prosecutor General;

Jizdan Alexandru, Interior Minister;

Lupu Marian, head of the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Party;

Paduraru Ion, Secretary General of the Moldovan President's Apparatus;

Salaru Anatolie, Defence Minister;

Untila Veaceslav, head of the parliament's commission for national security, defence and public order.

The Supreme Security Council is a consultative body which analyses the work of the ministries and department in the sector of ensuring the national security, and presents the Moldovan president recommendations on issues of the state's domestic and foreign policy.
