Moldovan electoral body approves regulation on disabled people’s electoral rights

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/-The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today approved a regulation on the accessibility of the electoral process for disabled people.
According to CEC’s press service, the document was carried out to ensure the observance of fundamental human rights during the electoral process and is based upon proposals submitted by representatives of non-governmental organizations in the field.
The regulation provides for the unhindered and non-discriminatory access of disabled people to the electoral process, ensuring their right to elect and be elected. The document also includes a string of responsibilities for all the participants in the electoral process- electoral bodies, electoral candidates, central and local public administration, mass media institutions and the civil society.
During today’s meeting, CEC also approved a report on its activity for 2015.
