Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in Bucharest today, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister thanked for the messages of support and encouragement received from the Romanian authorities, stressing that they were extremely important to overcome the social, political and economic crisis in Moldova. Pavel Filip said that, without the support of Romania and other foreign development partners, it would be difficult to achieve the priority goals of the Moldovan government.
"The government I lead is firmly determined to undertake concrete actions and deeds, in order to promote the European vector of Moldova's development, implement the reforms provided for in the Association Agreement with the European Union and revive the cooperation with the foreign development partners," Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.
The Romanian head of state emphasised that his country may be considered a reliable partner of Moldova. "We understand that you have taken over the mandate in a difficult period. You have a great chance, via firm reforms, which should be carried through, to make Moldova regain the political, economic financial stability, and after all, give back Moldova's citizens the sense of security and that there is a government which deals with the problems of Moldova and the Moldovans. You may count on the support of Romania in carrying out the reforms, in the European integration of Moldova," Klaus Iohannis told Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
