Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip held separate talks with President of the Romanian Senate Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
During his two meetings, the Moldovan prime minister voiced gratitude for the strong support Romania is offering his cabinet. The officials have also discussed Moldova’s economic and social-political situation.
“Moldova is in a delicate situation, but we have a great chance to stabilize it. If the government takes immediate actions, long-awaited by the society, people will join us for reforms. The government has no time for grace, as people want immediate results,” Filip said.
The Moldovan prime minister reiterated his cabinet’s availability to take concrete actions and prove that it has a pro-European course, and will stay this way as long as he heads it. The talks have also focused on turning to good account the first 60-million-euro installment of the loan Romania has offered Moldova, after the Romanian parliament had repeatedly voted for it and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis had promulgated a memorandum to this effect. “We are fully aware that it is almost impossible to achieve our priority goals without the support Romania and other development partners are offering us,” Filip concluded.
For his part, the president of the Romanian senate assured the Moldovan cabinet members of Romania’s full support. “Life is made up of challenges. Our mission is to find solutions and respond to political, economic and social challenges. Based on our experience, we try to find ways to back Moldova,” Popescu-Tariceanu said.
The president of the Romanian chamber of deputies noted that Romania would further back Moldova. “Your politicians and state authorities need to join their efforts. Romania continues to be your special partner and friend, and proved it by offering Moldova a 150-million-euro loan. You may count on the support of the Romanian parliament, as long as you implement reforms, democracy, stability and prosperity,” Zgonea said.
