Romania to send Moldova first loan installment before IMF agreement

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip today said Moldova would receive the first installment of the 150-million-euro loan Romania has offered it, before it signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to Filip, his meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos on 26 January was constructive and focused on the allotment of the first installment accounting for 60 million euros out of the total 150-million-euro loan.
“We count a lot on this assistance. Money will arrive before we sign an agreement with IMF. We are determined to fulfill as many conditions as possible, in order to implement the reforms we wanted to. These are goals to be achieved in the nearest time and I am fully confident that the first installment will arrive soon,” the Moldovan prime minister said.
Filip noted that in cooperation with IMF’s representatives in Chisinau, they worked out an invitation letter for IMF experts to visit Chisinau.
“I have every confidence that a first IMF assessment mission will arrive to Chisinau soon, followed by a second meeting to switch to negotiations on signing the IMF agreement,” Filip said.
Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with his Romanian counterpart, Dacian Ciolos, on 26 January. During the talks, the Romanian prime minister reiterated Romania’s support for Moldova and its readiness to allot the first installment of financial assistance accounting for 60 million euros of the loan’s total 150-million-euro value. He noted that it would happen as soon as the new Moldovan government takes concrete actions to prove that it is committed to implement reforms.
