Moldovan deputy premier, UK ambassador discuss Transnistrian conflict's settlement

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan held a meeting with UK Ambassador to Moldova E. S. Philip Batson today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The officials focused on current issues related to the Transnistrian conflict.

Balan spoke about the general outline of the evolution of the Transnistrian conflict’s settlement process, emphasizing the important need to resume five-plus-two format negotiations and highlighting Moldova’s priorities in this context.

The officials also tackled the need to boost up the dialogue between Moldovan and the so-called Transnistrian authorities, in order to find a pragmatic solution to the problems of major interest for residents of Dniester’s both banks.

On this occasion, the UK ambassador congratulated the Moldovan deputy prime minister on his recent appointment to this position, wishing him further success.
