Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/- A court session on the case of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, scheduled for today, has been postponed for next week. The prosecutor dealing with this case, Adriana Betisor, made statements to this effect today.
The meeting was postponed for 2 February, at 11:00.
“The reason for the adjourning was the submitting of an application by the defending side, considering some health grounds invoked by lawyers. This is a pardonable reason; therefore, another meeting was set for the next week,” Betisor said.
This was the third failed attempt of holding a court session in the case of ex-Prime Minister Vlad Filat. A session on the case took place on 26 January 2016.
Filat was detained on 15 October 2015, under a warrant issued by the National Anticorruption Centre, after the parliament had ruled to strip him of immunity.
On 18 October, the Buiucani court of Chisinau applied Vlad Filat a warrant of preventive detention for 30 days, and on 11 November and 10 December, the judges extended his arrest by another 30 days. On 5 January, the Buiucani court ruled to extend the arrest warrant by another 90 days.
