Moldovan economics ministry establishes three-month moratorium on controls by subordinated institutions

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic has signed an order on setting a moratorium on state controls carried out by administrative authorities with control duties, subordinated to this ministry, according to a press release by the Economics Ministry's (ME).

Under the minister's order, a three-month moratorium is set "on the activity of carrying out state controls by the Agency for Consumers' Protection, State Principal Inspectorate for Technical Supervision of Dangerous Industrial Units and State Energy Inspectorate."

"On the period of the moratorium, these authorities will carry out activities of strengthening the institutional capacities, assessing corruption risks and developing integrity plans, trainings, exchanges of experience. A green line for enterprises will be set at the State Chancellery, where economic agents will be able to denounce controls carried out by state bodies with control duties.

The moratorium was established, after Prime Minister Pavel Filip had said that he would insist on removing all barriers and constraints to the work of enterprises at a 28 January meeting with representatives of the business environment. The first step was announcing a moratorium on controls for a three-month period.

During the moratorium, a new legal framework will be worked out, that will regulate the controls at the economic agents, so that no abuses or intimidations be allowed and transparency be set in this sector, the prime minister added.
