Moldovan PM urges local public administrations to open dialogue to solve citizens' problems

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today attended the Local Authorities Congress of Moldova (CALM). At the event, the prime minister proposed to launch a platform of communication, in order to maintain a sincere and permanent dialogue between the central public administration and representatives of the local public administration, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister invoked the need of a sincere and direct dialogue, highlighting the role of mayors and district heads, who bear a great responsibility for a good going on of the things in their community. “I just ask to deem me as a partner of dialogue. We may discuss openly the settlement of common problems. I rely very much on your experience in the management of things in our villages and districts,” Pavel Filip said.
A first step for strengthening a sincere dialogue was made just today, when Pavel Filip referred including to the tense context in which the government was sworn in less than ten days ago. Despite this situation, the PM showed determination, along with his team of ministers, to solve the problems of citizens and lay the foundations of a functional and fair state. “This government is the last chance, I am aware of this difficult situation. It is important that we have the needed patience, preserve order in the society. The cabinet should be allowed to work and I assure you that the solutions will come,” Pavel Filip said.
For their part, the representatives of the local public administration spoke about the problems they faced and came up with proposals to settle them. The suggestions regarded decentralization of the public administration, ensuring local autonomy, including in management of financial and human resources, as well as the need to depoliticize the local public administration.
In this context, the prime minister touched upon the next actions due to be undertaken. “I will do my utmost, so that a part of the Road Fund’s resources for 2016 could be used to restore roads in settlements,” Filip said.
It is worth mentioning that the General Assembly of the Local Authorities Congress of Moldova brought together, the first year in a row, most mayors of the Moldovan settlements, as well as representatives of the public authorities from other states. Members of the diplomatic corps in Moldova and officials were present at the event as well.
