Moldovan cabinet to hold meeting in Gagauz autonomy soon

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with Governor (bashkan) of Gagauzia Irina Vlah and the chairman of the Gagauz Popular Assembly, Dmitri Constantinov today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials tackled priority aspects of the cooperation between central and regional authorities, in order to solve problems residents of the Gagauz Territorial Autonomous Unit are facing. The sides have also tried to identify the actions needed to ensure stability and a dynamic development in the region.
Filip voiced his full availability for a constructive dialogue, suggesting that Gagauzia’s problems be solved during direct talks. In this context, the sides agreed to organise a working meeting in Comrat soon, in order to thoroughly examine projects that could improve citizens’ life standards.
Governor Irina Vlah praised the fact that the government action programme included provisions on the Gagauz autonomy’s development. The officials have also noted that it was important for the autonomy’s representatives to participate in the elaboration and approval of the state budget draft law for 2016, along with other initiatives of the government, so that relevant suggestions submitted by local authorities could be taken into account.
For his part, the chairman of the Gagauz Popular Assembly welcomed the prime minister’s initiatives to set up a moratorium on controls carried out at economic agents’ institutions and improve the legislative framework in this field.
During the meeting, the sides have also broached issues related to drawing investments and promoting infrastructure projects in the Gagauz autonomy, as well as ensuring the public order and development of social services. The officials shared the same opinion, according to which peace and stability in the country is needed to achieve their goals. They have also agreed to set up an efficient cooperation to this effect.
