Moldovan premier chairs meeting on tragedy in north district

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip on 31 January summoned an urgent meeting to discuss a tragic case which occurred in the Trinca village, north Edinet district, where six persons, among whom four minors, died in the wake of a fire, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, Pavel Filip conveyed condolences to the relatives of the dead. The PM demanded that decision-makers ensure the consideration of the concerned case and identify financial resources from the social republican and local funds to organize the funerals. Reportedly, the cause of the fire would have been a candle. The prime minister was informed that teams of doctors and psychologists were on the spot, providing assistance to relatives of the deceased people.
The PM asked to initiate campaigns to inform residents about the risks of using alternative heating systems and the need to observe the anti-fire security rules.
According to Interior Minister Alexandru Jizdan, the institutions in charge permanently carry out actions to inform residents on fire risks. Thus, starting from November 2015, teams of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service have visited over 39,000 houses and discussed with almost 90,000 people.
Another topic discussed at the meeting was focused on a tragic case in the Bastovoi family. Andrei Bastovoi’s wife, Svetlana Bastovoi, died in the wake of a gas leakage and her son is in a serious condition at hospital. According to investigations, the reason for the leakage was a defect at a boiler. The justice minister informed about the legal mechanisms of giving possibility to Andrei Bastovoi and his son, both under arrest, to participate in the funerals.
Attending the meeting were Interior Minister Alexandru Jizdan, Justice Minister Vladimir Cebotari, Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan and the deputy dead of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service, Alexandru Oprea.
