Moldovan foreign minister receives congratulation message from German counterpart

Chisinau, 3 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur received a congratulation message from German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on the occasion of his appointment to office, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
In his message, the German official reiterates Germany’s availability to continue to be Moldova’s confident development partner and further back the promotion of reforms and implementation of the EU Association Agreement. In this respect, Steinmeier emphasized the importance of achieving a substantial progress in a very short time, and namely, to ensure the transparency of the banking system, curb corruption and implement the justice reforms, as they are considered to be the foundation of a sustainable development.
The German official encouraged Moldovan authorities to resume ties with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and sign a new cooperation agreement. He also urged them to continue the dialogue with the civil society, in order to overcome the difficult situation and continue to enforce reforms and the economic development.
Steinmeier has also reiterated Germany’s availability, in its tenure of OSCE acting chairman, to further back the five-plus-two negotiations, in order to settle the Transnistrian conflict, at the same time observing Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
