Moldovan foreign minister, U.S. ambassador broach bilateral ties

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today met U.S. Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit. The sides discussed topical issues of the Moldovan-American relations, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
Galbur welcomed the existence of privileged bilateral ties within the Moldova-USA strategic dialogue. The Moldovan minister invoked the opportunity to hold, in 2016, meetings of joint working groups for different sectors, such as law supremacy and rule of law state, security and defence, energy efficiency and diversification.
The Moldovan official thanked for the generous assistance provided by the U.S. administration and American people to Moldova, invoking, in particular, the aid offered within the Compact Programme of Millennium Challenge Corporation. The good effects of this help are fully felt by Moldovans.
For his part, James Pettit reiterated the USA’s willingness to further back Moldova in the spirit of the strategic dialogue, encouraging the new government to persevere in reforms seen in the Association Agreement with EU, especially the justice reform, fighting corruption and revival of the financial and banking system.
