Moldovan PM receives Russian ambassador

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today received Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The two officials reviewed issues on the bilateral agenda and highlighted the mutual openness for a constructive dialogue, in order to develop the relations between Moldova and Russia in all sectors of cooperation. At the same time, the Russian ambassador in Chisinau handed over to Pavel Filip a congratulatory letter signed by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The main subject of the discussion was the work of the Moldovan-Russian inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation, which has not held meetings over the last three years. The two officials stressed the need to resume the activity of the commission and convene, as soon as possible, a meeting of the inter-governmental commission with the participation of the co-heads on behalf of the two sides.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed Moldova’s interest in the development of a constructive cooperation with partners from Russia, taking into consideration the traditional friendship ties between the two states, as well as the fact that a large number of Moldovans live in Russia. In this context, the PM noted that the government he was leading focused its effort on prompt and resolute actions, due to yield concrete results, in order to settle the present problems and improve the residents’ living.
For his part, Farit Mukhametshin reiterated the position of Russia on the support of Moldova’s sovereignty and integrity. The Russian ambassador spoke out for boosting the trade and investment exchanges between the two countries, deepening the social and political dialogue, as well as extending the relations in the humanitarian sector.
