Moldovan foreign minister meets Swedish ambassador

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today received Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Signe Burgstaller, the Foreign and European Integration ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Ambassador Signe Burgstaller handed over to Minister Andrei Galbur a congratulatory message on his appointment to office on behalf of the Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom. The message highlights the expectations that “the new cabinet should act quickly and firmly to implement a vast and ambitious agenda of reforms, with the Moldova-EU Association Agreement representing an important framework of action in this respect.”
The Swedish diplomat reiterated her country’s support for the efforts of Moldova’s European integration through the agency of diverse assistance projects, both in the bilateral framework and within EU. At the same time, Signe Burgstaller reiterated the need to speed up the programme of reforms in the justice and domestic affairs sector, fighting corruption, improving the financial and banking system.
For his part, Andrei Galbur emphasized the new cabinet’s determination to continue the European integration course of Moldova and implement the reforms provided for in the Association Agreement with EU. The foreign minister welcomed also the advanced level of the Moldovan-Swedish cooperation and expressed thanks for the constant political support and technical and financial assistance for promoting democratic reforms.
