Moldovan foreign minister meets Russian ambassador

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today received Russian Ambassador to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The two officials highlighted the importance to further promote the political dialogue between the two states, including the Moldovan and Russian foreign ministries. In this context, Andrei Galbur and Farit Mukhametshin spoke out for organising a new round of inter-ministerial consultations in 2016.
The head of the Moldovan diplomacy thanked his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov for a congratulatory message received on the occasion of his appointment to office and voiced hope for a meeting in the near future.
At the same time, the officials opted for resuming the work of the inter-governmental commission, signing bilateral agreements on labour force migration, fighting illegal migration and readmission, developing the inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The sides also exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian problem settlement process. Galbur and Mukhametshin stressed the need to resume the negotiations on identifying a viable political solution to this conflict, by observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
