Moldovan premier meets Swedish ambassador

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Moldova Signe Burgstaller, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.  

The two officials tackled priority subjects for the further development of the Moldovan-Swedish cooperation and Sweden’s support for Moldova.   

Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked for the constant support provided to Moldova by Sweden, particularly to achieve the goal of the country’s European integration and promoting reforms. “Earlier, in my capacity of information technology and communications minister, I had a very good cooperation with Swedish partners. I am fully confident that we will develop fruitful relations in the office of prime minister as well,” Pavel Filip said.

The prime minister also referred to the social and political situation in Moldova, stressing that his team was aware or the responsibility of the new government. Pavel Filip emphasized that the cabinet’s action programme contained several priority objectives, among which the enforcement of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, stabilization of the financial sector and strengthening the state’s institutions.

For her part, Ambassador Signe Burgstaller welcomed the government’s determination to implement the reforms’ agenda, stressing that Sweden would further back the European integration of Moldova.  

Also, the two officials discussed projects carried out in Moldova with the support of Sweden within the regional assistance strategy, in such fields as economy, energy sector, business environment and gender equality.
