Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/- Businessmen from Moldova and Belarus, as well as representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry from both states brought together at a forum in Chisinau on 4 February. The business people discussed extending the economic cooperation between the two states. The forum was held within a national exhibition, Made in Moldova, staged at the Moldexpo centre on 3-7 February.
In his speech, the deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Moldova, Vladimir Didilica, said “Belarus has always been a very important business partner for our country. Nevertheless, we have recorded a drop in trade exchanges in the last years. Therefore, the forum’s purpose is to consolidate the bilateral ties between the two states. The Belarusian market represents a priority for Moldovan producers, and we hope that the economic operators from both states should switch from bilateral trade to advanced cooperation forms, such as industrial cooperation”, Didilica said.
The director for foreign relations at CCI from Belarus, Alyona Azarova, said the commercial ties between the two states were very good, with a promising potential, and the current forum represented an opportunity to know potential investors.
“Belarus has always backed Moldova, and we hope that this forum will have positive results, and each economic agent will find partners, and we will do our utmost to ensure the necessary support”, an adviser on economic issues of the Belarusian embassy in Chisinau, Andrei Koroli, said.
At the end of the event, the economic agents from the two states had bilateral meetings and exchanged information for a possible cooperation.
