Moldovan, Ukrainian business people discuss cooperation at forum in Chisinau

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRFES/ - Representatives of the business environment from Moldova and Ukraine today brought together at a forum in Chisinau. The participants in the event discussed opportunities of bilateral trade cooperation. The forum was organised by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry from the two countries, with the participation of both states’ ambassadors.     

The deputy head of the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Vladimir Didilica, has said that Ukraine was a strategic partner for Moldova. He also said that, in this respect, decision-makers should do their utmost, both at inter-chamber level and the governmental one, to boost the economic collaboration ties and the trade exchanges between the two countries.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Ivan Gnatishin stressed the importance of the forum for the private sector from both states. He also said that “this is a platform   which gives enterprises possibility to make exchanges of commercial offers and conclude business partnerships.”

“We intend to further cooperate for developing joint projects, organise business forums, diverse meetings allowing operators from both countries to communicate and identify new possibilities of collaboration, Moldovan Ambassador to Ukraine Ruslan Bolboceanu said. The diplomat also said that the visiting of the Made in Moldova exhibition, staged in Chisinau on 3-7 February, was a good opportunity for foreign companies to take knowledge of the business environment from Moldova. ”

According to the deputy head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, Sergey Svystil, the Ukrainian private sector shows increased interest in bolstering the trade exchanges. In this context, Svystil stressed that it was necessary to facilitate this process, by simplifying the customs procedures and cutting the number of documents needed for export. At the same time, the Ukrainian decision-makers invited all economic operators, willing to find business partners, to participate in a forum of exporters, due in Kiev on 27-28 April.   

Attending the forum were representatives of the Economics Ministry, Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, Attraction Investment and Export Promotion Organisation and National Food Safety Agency. They unveiled investment possibilities offered by Moldova, as well as the opportunities implied by preferential trade regimes, Moldova benefits from, both in the cooperation with the EU member states and with the ones of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Central European Free Trade Agreement and Turkey. The companies from Ukraine were also familiarised with Moldova’s experience in implementing European standards in the sanitary and phyto-sanitary sectors.
