Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/-More than 500 members of territorial organizations of the Party of Communists (PCRM) during a news conference today said they had left the party.
According to the document, Communists who left the party are from Stefan Voda, Ialoveni, Calarasi, Straseni, Ungheni, Falesti, Glodeni and Drochia districts, as well as from Chisinau.
“The party I used to be a member of, is no longer in opposition and able to fight for power in the country. I thought PCRM would overcome its internal crisis and find a way to consolidate Moldova’s leftist forces. Unfortunately, PCRM head Vladimir Voronin did not meet our expectations. His actions lead to a split among the party’s members, as it failed to fulfill the commitments made to its voters,” the mayor of Bilicenii Noi village, Singerei district, Ivan Orlovschii said.
Former Communist local representatives said they had decided to join PSRM as it was the only opposition force for them. “Only Socialists are able to consolidate opposition forces, enhance economy, free the state from corrupt officials and punish those who stole the billion,” Orlovschii added.
None of the PCRM officials were available to comment on the situation.
A group of 14 Communist MPs announced they were leaving the party on 21 December 2015, as they “were not satisfied with the decisions and actions of Communist leader, Vladimir Voronin”.
PCRM got 21 MP mandates after the elections held on 30 November 2014. Currently, PCRM has only seven MPs.
