Moldovan PM, German ambassador discuss government’s priorities

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with German Ambassador to Moldova Ulrike Knotz at the government today. The sides approached important matters on the bilateral agenda, along with the actions that are to be taken to develop Moldovan-German partnership ties, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
In this context, Filip touched upon the government’s main goals and provisions of its action programme, adding that his team is actively working to remove arrears in the implementation of Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
“The stabilization of the financial sector, consolidation of state institutions, as well as signing a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as soon as possible, are some of the government’s priorities,” Filip said.
The Moldovan prime minister voiced gratitude for Germany’s constant support for Moldova, for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict in particular, and also for its technical, financial, social and cultural-educational assistance. “The implementation of Moldova’s commitments to the EU is important for us and for the enhancement of Moldovan-German ties,” the prime minister noted.
For her part, Knotz welcomed the Moldovan government’s goals, reiterating Germany’s willingness to back Moldova’s EU integration course.
Thus, the sides discussed the projects Germany is currently implementing in Moldova, such as the development and consolidation of regional and local administrations, enhancing the hot water sypply system in some regions, as well as carrying out a strategy for the integration of minorities into the cultural democracy.
