Moldovan foreign minister meets EU rapporteur

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today held a meeting with the European Parliament’s Rapporteur for the Association Agreement Petras Auštrevičius, on a fact-collecting visit to Moldova, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
During the meeting, the officials have thoroughly exchanged views on the agenda of reforms provided in Moldova-EU Association Agreement, as well as on Moldova’s current social-political evolution.
The European MP emphasized that the EU was available to further back Moldova’s EU integration option, encouraging at the same time Moldovan authorities to boost up their efforts to fulfill the commitments they made when signing the association agreement and implement necessary reforms. In his tenure of coordinator of the cooperation programme between the European and Moldovan parliaments, he reiterated the European Parliament’s commitment to further help consolidate the Moldovan legislative’s institutional capacities, and maintain Moldova on the list of priority countries in need of democratic support in 2016.
For his part, Galbur thanked Auštrevičius for his full efforts to back Moldova’s EU integration course. He confirmed the new government’s firm commitment to implement structural reforms and meet the goals of the EU Association Agreement. He also voiced gratitude for the support the European Parliament is offering Moldova to help it promote its EU integration course.
