Chisinau, 5 March /MOLDPRES/-The French Alliance in Moldova inaugurated a project to back education in francophone bilingual lyceums in Chisinau today.
The Filières Bilingues 2.0 project is an innovative result of a partnership between the French Alliance in Moldova, French Embassy in Chisinau and the Francophone University Agency. The project is being implemented with the financial support of the French Institute in collaboration with the Moldovan Education Ministry, Novateca Programme and Romanian and Bulgarian experts.
“Francophone institutions will invest over 17 thousand euros to create and boost up the teaching staff, and also implement new education technologies in lyceums with bilingual classes,” the Francophone University Agency’s official in charge of Moldova and Ukraine, Roxana Turcanu said.
The project also provides for six-month internship programmes for more than 150 French and non-linguistic teachers, from Chisinau, Balti, Orhei, Cahul, Hincesti, Soroca and Ungheni districts.
Attending the event was French Ambassador to Moldova Pascal Vagogne. He welcomed the courage and dedication of Moldovan teachers, inclusively the ones from the left side of Dniester, who keep promoting the study of French language, in spite of all the difficulties. “The fact that Filières Bilingues 2.0 is part of the 20th anniversary of Moldova’s adherence to the International Organisation of La Francophonie, is relevant. The programme promotes new technologies in the process of teaching and learning French. They guarantee students an easier access to a further education in France or member-institutions of the Francophone University Agency,” the official said.
There are currently eight francophone bilingual lyceums in Moldova. More than 3,000 students are deeply studying foreign languages, as well as other subjects like, mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry, all of them being taught in French.
