Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/-The leader of “Partidul Nostru” (Our Party) party, Renato Usatii unveiled his public position on the ruling of the Constitutional Court (CC), according to which the constitutional reform made in 2009 was partially canceled and the president will again be elected by direct vote.
According to a press release of his party, “it was a political ruling impersonated into a juridical one”.
“All of the lawyers and development partners I have talked to, said the decision was precisely taken into my detriment, as only a single part of the Article 78 had been amended,” Usatii said.
Usatii said before 2000, the Constitution had clearly provided that anyone older than 35 may run for president. “They knew I am 37 years old and I cannot run for president. Plahotniuc tried to ease Dodon’s way and help him become a president,” he added.
The press release states that the top court “ruled that we basically do not a need a parliament anymore”. “Therefore, the government is free to do anything it wants under its own responsibility, without the parliament’s consent,” Usatii noted.
