Moldova makes progress in removing arrears in terms of implementing Association Agreement with EU

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has recorded significant progress in removing arrears in terms of implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Prime Minister Pavel Filip made statements to this effect following a joint working meeting of the parliament and government today.

The participants in the meeting discussed also subjects on fighting corruption, reforms in justice, financial and banking sectors, as well as in the energy field.

‘’We have registered very good results during 30 days. Today, we synchronized the common agenda of the parliament and government, discussed certain technical issues concerning the draft laws due to be passed. We will propose the parliament’s Standing Bureau to create a council or a college on the implementation of the Association Agreement with EU,’’ Speaker Andrian Candu said.  

‘’The College will be made up of European experts, heads of the parliament’s commissions, as well as heads of the parliamentary delegations. These persons will check the process of implementing the Association Agreement with EU, communication with the government and formation of the parliament’s agenda,’’ Candu added.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that the roadmap had been established today, which was to be fulfilled till the end of the spring-summer session of the parliament. ‘’The roadmap shows Moldova’s commitments to the citizens and not only. On next Monday, we will be at the Association Council in Brussels. This time, we will come up with quite many already carried out actions, with achieved objectives; therefore, we rely on positive conclusions following this Council,’’ Filip said.  

The first joint working meeting of the parliament and government was held on 12 February 2016. The participants in the event discussed the removal of arrears in implementing the Association Agreement signed by Moldova and European Union, commitments before the International Monetary Fund, Romania’s government, reforms in the legal system, financial and banking sector, as well as in the energy field.
