Moldovan state institutions make progress in fulfilling commitments of Association Agreement with EU

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members, the leadership of the parliament the standing commissions of the legislative body today assembled at a joint working meeting to assess the progress made in fulfilling the commitments taken within the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement and to coordinate the agendas of activity of the government and parliament, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that a closer cooperation between the cabinet and the parliament was necessary in continuation. “We work together; we do this to modernize Moldova from inside. Our objective is to enhance the quality and well-being of the living of the people from our country,” the prime minister said.
Pavel Filip referred to actions carried out in the context of preparing for a meeting of the Moldova – EU Association Council, due in Brussels on 14 March 2016. “Just as we have set to do, the government considered and approved 28 normative acts, provided for in the action plan on the implementation of the Association Agreement, of which eight acts are draft laws contained in the legislative programme, approved under the Parliament Decision 146 from 9 July 2015,” the prime minister said.
At the same time, Filip specified that, out of the 166 draft legislative acts stipulated in the list presented at the previous joint meeting from 12 February 2016, the parliament had approved 79 notifications, which represents almost a half of all the drafts which were to be passed.
At the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu highlighted the accelerated tempo of the implementation of the assumed commitments. “At the five parliament plenary meetings of this spring session, more normative acts from the European agenda were adopted than during the entire autumn session,” Speaker Andrian Candu said.
The two officials gave assurances that needed measures would be further undertaken to adopt the priority draft laws and promote reforms.
