Electrical energy tariffs for Moldovan end consumers decrease by ten per cent

14:18 | 12.03.2016 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/-The administration board of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) following the debates during the public meeting, decided today to reduce the tariff for electrical energy supplied by Gas Natural Fenosa Energy Supplier, by 11 per cent for household consumers, and by eight per cent for consumers serviced by RED Nord and RED Nord-Vest.

Household consumers serviced by Gas Natural Fenosa Energy Supplier will pay 1.92 lei per one kilowatt/hour, against 2.16 as previously set. The supplier asked that ANRE includes the amount of financial deviations caused by the depreciation of the national currency, as according to it, it is the only warrant that this sum would be recovered. Financial deviations in 2012-2015 account for hundreds of millions of lei, which had not been taken into account when setting up new tariffs.

Moldovan citizens living in the area serviced by RED Nord state enterprise will pay 2.04 lei per kilowatt/hour against the current tariff of 2.23 lei. Household consumers serviced by RED Nord-Vest enterprise will pay 2.14 lei per kilowatt/hour, against the current tariff of 2.33 lei.

When updating the tariff, ANRE took into account a currency exchange rate (20.18 lei per dollar) higher than the one (18.88 lei per dollar) used to calculate the old tariff in 2015. The 27.9-per-cent decrease in the procurement price of the electrical energy, lowering it to 4.8995 cents per kilowatt, played a major role in the decision to reduce the energy tariff for consumers.

The last change in the tariffs for electrical energy supplied to end consumers was made in July 2015, when energy tariffs were increased by 30-37 per cent, which entered into force on 9 November, after an audit carried out by suppliers.

New tariffs will enter into force on 1 April 2016.
