Moldovan PM says visit to Brussels first step in restoring European partners' trust

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - The visit to Brussels represents a first step in re-establishing the trust and dialogue with the European partners. Prime Minister Pavel Filip made a statement to this effect upon the Moldovan delegation’s return to Chisinau.
The prime minister noted that the European Union would further back Moldova on the way of reforms, in exchange of concrete results’ achievement.
“During the visit, we discussed domestic development in Moldova, the main measures and outcomes in the implementation of the reforms assumed within the Roadmap,” Pavel Filip said.
The prime minister specified that the Moldovan delegation had managed to unveil the first results achieved since the swearing in office of the new cabinet. “Now, our priority is to remove the arrears in terms of enforcing the Association Agreement. Thus, we will continue investigating the fraud in the banking system, joint meetings organised by the government and parliament and will take every effort to maintain the dynamic in fulfilling the Roadmap,” Filip added.
A delegation of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, paid a visit to Brussels on 14-16 March, where it participated in the second meeting of the Moldova – European Union Association Council.
Within the visit, the Moldovan delegation had meetings with more officials of the European Commission and European Parliament, including EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, European Parliament President Martin Schulz, European Commissioner for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic, Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue Valdis Dombrovskis, Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu, as well as other European officials.
