New director general of Moldovan Customs Service appointed

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- Vitalie Vrabie was appointed director-general of the Customs Service on 18 March 2016, according to an order by the finance minister. The position remained vacant following the cessation of the employment relationship through the resignation of the former director general Tudor Balitchi on 28 January.
The new head of the Customs Service was introduced to the staff of the institution by Finance Minister Octavian Armasu. The minister said that the main tasks due to be fulfilled were to provide budget revenues, modernise the Customs Service and implement the Association Agreement.
Vitalie Vrabie served as Local Public Administration Minister and deputy prime minister in 2006-2007, and on 16 July 2007 he was appointed as Defence Minister. Vrabie resigned from this office on 14 September 2009. Starting from June 2012 and till now, he has acted as director-general of the Tracom industrial park.
