Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- Investments amounting to 5.9 million euros are needed to set up the 112 emergency service. Information Technology and Communications Minister Vasile Botnari made statements to this effect at a today's news conference.

“This amount will be covered from the state budget, but we rely on support of foreign partners as well. A tender will be organized, to nominate a company in charge of providing the 112 service with all necessary things. Priority will be given to the company which will fulfill all the construction works from the beginning till the end, taking into account the experience in Europe, where this service has been already put into operation,” he said.

The official said that the service would be created from scratch and involved a large volume of work, carried out in more stages. “We plan to launch the service in test regime till late 2016 and to fully put it into operation all over Moldova in the next two years,” he said.

The working principle of the 112 service will be a single desk, which will comprise emergency services: 901, 902, 903, 904 etc. “The 112 service will be made up of two offices, that will operate simultaneously 24 hours. At the same time, the operator answering the call will have access to all information registers from Moldova, which will allow him/her modeling the intervention”, he said.

Botnari noted that the working principle of the service would exclude possibility to abandon calls and, at the same time, would be able to filter out false calls. “A file on each call will be created, that will be closed only after finishing the intervention, on which a report will be compiled,” he said.

In another context, the official said that six candidates had been registered for the position of director of the 112 Service, and the results would be announced most likely next week.
