Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/- The opportunity to set up law courts or panel of judges specialized in solving labour litigations in Moldova was discussed at an international conference titled, "Courts specialised in labour litigations - an option of reform for Moldova?" Attending the event was also Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

In a greeting message conveyed to the participants in the conference, the speaker referred to the observance of social rights and right to work, large number of files in common law courts and need for judges to be specialised in separate sectors ,in the context of justice reform actions.

“The parliament is open for proposals due to come and we encourage you to come up with proposals for authorities, so that the good ideas you have should be found in amendments and system change. Despite changes for the better, the employee further remains vulnerable and manages with difficulty to do him/herself justice in court after many years of trials," he said.

The speaker assured that the proposals would be considered attentively by authorities, and the parliament and government would provide support for their implementation.

“It is important that both the employee and employer have protected rights, and justice should work fairly for both. Only in this way, we will manage to develop an efficient economy and modernize Moldova”, he said.

The participants discussed conclusions and recommendations of a study on courts specialized in labor disputes, carried out by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung foundation. The document presents instruments for solving labour litigations seen in the legal framework of Moldova, assesses factors affecting the quality of litigations' settlement in courts, unveils the European experience in terms of courts specialized in labor disputes and offers several models of specialization of courts, which might be implemented in Moldova.

Attending the event were representatives of law institutions, magistrates, representatives of trade unions and civil society, international organizations and academic environment.

The conference was organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation, in partnership with the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova and German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
