Moldovan PM says ensuring social equity, justice priority of government

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with representatives of the National Trade Unions Confederation of Moldova (CNSM). Attending the event were officials of the Finance Ministry, Economics Ministry and Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.     

The sides tackled subjects on carrying out the social dialogue, as well as problems of wage payment and social insurances system. 

Prime Minister Pavel Filip referred to measures undertaken and actions due to be carried out, in order to enhance Moldova’s financial and economic stability, by strengthening discipline in the fiscal and customs system, and following increase in budget revenues.   

The prime minister also touched upon the cabinet’s actions to ensure a good cooperation with development partners and re-launch investment programmes. He said this was an indispensable condition for laying the foundations of a sustainable economic growth, rise in residents’ incomes and hence, purchasing power and improving the people’s living standards. 

According to the head of National Trade Unions Confederation, Oleg Budza, as well as to the leaders of branch trade union organisations attending the meeting, the principal problems needing an urgent involvement of the government regard  consolidation of the legislative and normative framework to protect the rights of employees, indexation of salaries and social allowances, as well as fighting the  informal economy (unregistered labour and salaries “in envelopes”).

The prime minister said the government was set to ensure, first of all, transparency and a more efficient communication with all actors of the social dialogue, stressing that ensuring social equity and justice was a priority for the cabinet. Filip also said that sanctions were to be toughened for violation of legal provisions in the labour sector.  

The sides also discussed measures to back disadvantaged persons, legislation on the pension system, need to strengthen assistance to health resort institutions and the ones in charge of organising the treatment and leisure of children in summer.
